Q. |
What makes
Universal Net different than any other development
company? |
| |
|
|
A. |
Universal Net was
founded on the same principles that drive the video
game industry. We have Zero (0) tolerance for
errors and design specifically for the needs of your
end user. We believe their is no point in
putting your information out there if people
visiting your site can't find that information so we
design your site specifically so your customers can
meet their goals. |

Q. |
What is a
cookie? |
| |
|
|
A. |
A cookie is a
small piece of code designed to let a web site know
who it is communicating with. When a web site
gives you a cookie, this information is (usually)
used to validate the user during their visit to the
web site. This is particularly important on
shopping sites and sites that provide secure
information. A cookie ensures that information
you request is sent to you (not someone else
pretending to be you). |

Q. |
Do I want
Flash on my site? |
| |
|
|
A. |
It really
depends on your site and why you want to use Flash.
Flash is a convenient way to provide animations,
movies and "really cool stuff" on your web site but
you should be asking yourself if "really cool stuff"
will help your site do it's job.
If you have an entertainment
based site, then flash is crucial. If your
site is business oriented or a shopping cart site,
Flash may helpful or not be necessary at all.
Some people have browsers that do not support Flash.
Flash animations can seriously increase the cost of
your site. |

Q. |
How does a
shopping cart work? |
| |
|
|
A. |
The simplest form
of a shopping cart allows your customer to select
items they want to purchase and send an email form
letting you know what they need. An example of
this is on the Il
Farro web site.
A
more complex and more functional system uses a
database to store all of your products (also making
it easy for you to edit your products online), when
the user selects items to be placed in their
shopping cart, these items are placed in a temporary
storage (which is keyed to the user's Cookie).
Once the user has selected their items, they may
"check out" by entering their information into the
total form (including their Credit card number).
This information is then stored and an email
notifying you of the transaction is sent.
The choice to process the
credit card immediately (Real time processing) or
wait until you send the order is yours to make but
we support both options and electronic check and
customer Invoicing. |

Q. |
Why should I
use you instead of my doing it myself? |
| |
|
|
A. |
Using an outside
developer gives you the opportunity to get a fresh
perspective. We are working on several
different web sites with different points of view
every day. We are not part of your corporate
structure indoctrinated in how you do business, we
learn about you as we go. Thisgives us the
opportunity to create a fresh image of you on the
Internet.
There should be no doubt that
just about anyone can build a web site. How
well will this web site meet your needs?
With us, you are getting over
20 years experience with Interactive products and
over 8 years just building web sites. This
experience equals savings to you in the form of a
quicker development cycle and a reliable creative
presence on the Internet. |

Q. |
Is it safe to
process credit cards on the internet? |
| |
|
|
A. |
We could get very
technical here but let's say it is can be safer than
processing a credit card at a clothing store...
Most Credit Card Fraud occurs at
the point of sale, meaning that the clerk takes the
Credit Card number and uses it later.
On the Internet, you should
only take Credit Cards over a secure connection (the
little lock on your browser is closed). This
ensures the number is secure from someone monitoring
your web site activity. |

Q. |
Why does it
take so long to create a web site? |
| |
|
|
A. |
Building a web
site is more work than just creating a Word
document, we don't get to type in the information
had have it display just the way we want with the
click of a few buttons. Building a web site
requires creative use of computer code including
HTML, ASP, JavaScript, etc. Accepting
a password requires complex database programming.
In fact, the simple taks of displaying the question
above "Why does it take so long to create a web
site?" requires the code below...
<table border="0" cellpadding="0"
cellspacing="0" style="border-collapse: collapse"
width="95%" id="AutoNumber12">
<tr>
<td width="10%"><b><font face="Arial">
<a name="create">Q.</a></font></b></td>
<td width="90%"><b><font face="Arial">
Why does it take so long to create a web site?
</font></b></td>
</tr>
</table> |

Q. |
What
role do I play in creating my web site? |
| |
|
|
A. |
We welcome you to
be as involved (on uninvolved) in the design and
development of your web site as you want to be.
There are a few minimal points that you must
participate in.
First,
we need your approval on each stage of the site.
Rebuilding your web site from scratch because you
don't like the buttons can be expensive so we want
to know that you like the buttons early on.
Next, you are our only source
of information about your company. We rely on
you to provide us with the information about your
company and your products.
Last, once we have completed
your web site, we need you to evaluate the site to
ensure it meets your satisfaction. We are good
and we are human. It helps us to know that you
are looking over our shoulders and making sure that
we are doing the job you hired us for. |

Q. |
Can I get my
site done cheaper? |
| |
|
|
A. |
Of course, you
can. It just depends on what you want. A
Ford Escort is a great car but there is a reason it
costs less than an BMW 740i.
Our custom web site proposals are
based on the number of hours it takes to build your
site. In fact, hours go into creating a
proposal for your site.
Just remember the quality of
your web site is our highest priority and the cost
reflects the time it takes to provide the quality
you deserve. |

Q. |
What ROI
(Return on Investment) can I expect from a website? |
| |
|
|
A. |
The answer to
this question lies in what you are creating a web
site to do for you. If you build it they will
come is not the reality of the Internet.
Cisco estimates an annual savings
of $500 million because of using the internet.
$270 million of that comes from online distribution
of manuals and manual updates.
Dell provides tier level sales
and support called the "Dell Triangle." they
have created higher profits and greater customer
satisfaction using the Internet as the center for
their customer sales and support.
Your best results (and easiest
results to trace) on the Internet come from finding
ways to support your current customers and provide
information to new customers. The best time to
talk with us us when you are thinking about what the
Internet can do for you. We can provide
insight into how a web site can best support you and
provide you with a detailed proposal that will meet
your needs. |
